At Pilates North East, we provide a wide range of Pilates and Yoga classes to cater for all ages and abilities. Furthermore, we guide you through each movement and offer you alternatives so that you can always work at your own pace and within your own ability. Take a look at our classes in more detail below:
Back to Basics
A gentle class to ease you into Pilates. Does your back ache? Has lockdown affected your mobility? We will help you find a spring in your step once again.
Let us take you through a functional matwork exercise program to improve your strength, mobility and posture. Modifications for any health issues will be offered.
This sessions ends with a restorative relaxation.
Pilates Level 1 & 2
For those of you experienced in the basic mat work principles, join this class to enjoy flowing movement from one exercise to the next, the class is multi level, so there will be options to progress or regress each exercise to suit how your body is feeling.
In this class we will use our dynamic core, awaken our internal awareness and focus on mind and body connection. The perfect way to escape the chattering mind, whilst unraveling the body and releasing any tensions. Pure joy.
This Pilates class has the extra element of a dynamic flow from one exercise to another and uses equipment to add further challenge. I will offer modifications and ask you to work with your own body. In this class we will use our dynamic core, awaken our internal awareness and focus on a mind and body connection. The perfect way to escape the chattering mind, whilst unraveling the body and releasing any tensions. Pure joy.
Stretch, Release & Relax
Movement is never separate from life. In this class we will mobilise the body and work on releasing and unraveling the spine. We hold on to unnecessary tension and if this is left unaddressed it can impact on our health. Lets connect back with our breath, move slowly and mindfully throughout the whole body, stretching and letting go. Find a deeper sense of somatic awareness and an essence of fluidity and freedom in the body and the mind.
A nurturing, meditative flow focused on linking breath and movement to calm the mind and tap into the body’s “rest and restore” parasympathetic nervous system. This nurturing yoga class will contain a mindful standing section and floor-based exercises and stretches. Expect to feel refreshed and relaxed after.
Pilates Flow and Let Go
This class is a mix of our signature Pilates class and our Stretch, Release and Relax class. Enjoy flowing movement from one exercise to the next in this open-level class. There will be options to progress or regress each exercise to suit how your body is feeling. We will use our dynamic core, awaken our internal awareness and focus on mind and body connection. We will finish with deep stretches to ease off any residual stress or tension. Delightful.
Yoga with Kim
A nurturing practise focusing on linking breath and movement to calm the mind and tap into the body’s “rest and restore” parasympathetic nervous system. The class will contain standing and floor based sections, and include the use of props, such as a block/cushion and yoga strap or band. We end with a calming relaxation, so a blanket may also be useful.
Pilates for All
Enjoy all of your favourite matwork exercises to strengthen weak areas and wonderful stretches to release tension in tight areas in the body.
The session will end with a restorative relaxation.
